5 Gorgeous Haircuts for Women with Round Faces

Ever wondered what type of haircut you should have? It seems like there is always something new in styling and hair design. Your own hairstylist may have even given you some suggestions. But how do you know what styles can truly look great? First things first! Determine the shape of your face.
If you’re reading this, you’re probably pretty sure you have a round face shape. But if you’re not quite sure, here’s a video from Birchbox that might help you determine what yours is:
Round Face Shapes
When you have a rounder face shape, it might be a bit tricky when it comes to finding the perfect hairstyle, but you also have some of the most unique options open to you!
If you’ve ever had the suspicion that your face is rounder than most, check to see if:
- The chin is slightly rounded
- The widest part is your cheekbones
- The jaw and forehead have soft angles
- The Length and width is roughly similar
- The width of forehead and jawline is similar
If this sounds familiar, you definitely have a round face shape. Check out our style guide below to help you pick a hairstyle that can compliment all your best features.
#1: The Cropped Pixie Cut – For Short Hair
To really make your cheekbones pop on a rounder frame, you may want to try the cropped pixie. This haircut is incredibly well-suited for women with a round face. It gives some dimension to otherwise soft shapes, and allows your facial features to really stand out.
#2: Angled Bob Cut – For Mid-Short Hair
If you want to go short, but don’t think you’re ready for a full bob, a good mid-length bob can really compliment a round face. If you want to make your face look a little slimmer, try an angled cut. Just be sure the length won’t go shorter than your chin and part your hair to one side for a more dramatic effect. This hairstyle can frame your whole face, which doesn’t always happen with long or oval shaped faces.
#3: The Lob – For Mid-Long Hair
It is safe to say that this trendy look just keeps on trending. The Lob is basically just a bob but around 2-6 inches longer below the chin. For those who are afraid of doing a full cut, this can be a great compromise shape that continues to flatter. You can part from the side to make your round face appear a little thinner, and this look is great for curly, straight, or anything in-between.
#4: Long and Layered – For Long Hair
For a rounded shaped face, you can achieve angles and texture by adding in long layers. This can give your hair more movement, volume, and lift. Since your face is a little more compressed, it can also be a good idea to cut face-framing layers close around your face and chin.
#5: The Side-Swept Bangs – For All Hair Lengths
Your hair can be thick or thin, short or long, straight, wavy, or curly for this look! As long as your face is round, side-swept bangs can be beautiful. Just ask your hairstylist to take a part of your bangs and trim them into layers that would match best your overall look. Bangs are a bold choice and perfect for bold personalities.
When you have a round face shape you have the opportunity to take advantage of quite a few hairstyles. The number one thing you may want to avoid is adding too much volume or too much symmetry to your look. Your face is already full and symmetrical, so be sure to add some asymmetry with swept bangs and textured layers.
